The Best HP Laptops for 2022

HP is the manufacturer of a few of our favourite laptops, yet there are also many models making it hard to choose one. From the Omen gaming rigs to the premium Spectre line, we have reviewed a myriad of HP laptops. Here is our list of some of the top HP laptops according to each category.

If you are looking for a business laptop, make sure you read our more general top business laptop rankings or our top HP EliteBook guide. Many of the best HP laptops are usually portable devices. For an even broader selection, refer to our top 13-inch laptops page.

In 2021, HP released the outstanding Spectre x360 14 and showcased many new compelling products at CES 2021, including the Elite Folio and Envy 14. They also plan to release a range of Chromebooks promoted by the Elite c1030 Chromebook Enterprise. We are currently reviewing the Elite Dragonfly Max, a pricy, yet gorgeous business model.

What Are The Top HP Laptops?

HP produces many fantastic laptops, yet we really enjoyed the Envy 13 and the Envy x360. They are not necessarily the top laptops in this lineup, yet they do offer exceptional value. For only EUR 800 you can enjoy fast performance and a superior aluminium design in a highly portable package. The 1080p, 13.3-inch display is vivid and bright with a superior keyboard.

If you have more to spend, the Spectre x360 14 and Spectre x360 13 are even better laptops. The Spectre x360 14 and 13 offer flexible chassis that convert into tablets and an extremely fancy design. Perhaps the best feature of these laptops is their epic battery life. The Elite Dragonfly, also designed for business users, offers a razor-thin design along with a stunning display.

If you are a business user that requires even more power, you should look at the ZBook Create G7 that features exceptional specs and a slim and compact workstation. If you are an avid gamer, the Omen 15 is a worthwhile consideration. This incredibly powerful gaming rig offers ample performance within a great price range.

The HP Envy is considered the top laptop for less than EUR 1,000 and among the top 13-inch laptops currently available. The touchpad might be plastic, but the Envy 13 offers phenomenal value if you are looking for a laptop under EUR1,000. This deal is really attractive since it offers excellent 11th Gen Intel Core CPUs and an entirely aluminium design.

When testing out the different HP laptops, we discovered that the Envy 13 with an Intel Core i5-1135G7 delivers speedy performance for just about any task. The Envy 13 comes in at only EUR 900 and outmuscles many other laptops that cost more than EUR 1,000. More importantly, the Envy 13 has a comfortable and durable keyboard along with a vivid, bright 13.3-inch display.

There is not much that we didn’t like about this laptop. If you can get past the lacking IR camera (you can still use the fingerprint sensor), then this is definitely one of the best money-saving laptops.

The HP Envy x360 is currently the best HP laptop available and one of the best laptops under EUR 1,000. While this model does not include a stylus, this is a 2-in-1 Envy, allowing you to flip the device into tablet mode or a tent. The Herculian AMD Ryzen processors and the aluminium design are what makes this laptop great value for money.

From our tests, we quickly found that this Envy x360 13 including a Ryzen 5 4500U CPU outperforms some of the laptops that come with 10th Gen Intel chips. This Envy comes in at just EUR 800 and outperforms some of the laptops costing well over EUR 1,000 including the pricy MacBook Pro. More importantly, the Envy x360 13 offers a 13.3-inch bright and vivid display along with a user-friendly keyboard.

There is not much bad to say about the Envy x360. If you can overlook the missing IR camera and Thunderbolt 3 port, this could be the best money-saving laptop to invest in.

Another honourable mention would be the Envy x360 15. It offers most of the qualities and features of the 13-inch model but with a much larger display. We hoped that this model would come with a stylus, yet this is also one of the features lacking with this model.

The Spectre x360 14 is the top 2-in-1 laptop ever made. Released in 2021, this 13.5-inch model adds to its predecessors by including new and useful features including the 3:2 aspect-ratio display and 11th Gen Intel CPU with Iris Xe graphics. Some of the highlights include a vivid and bright 1920 x 1280-pixel IPS, a gorgeous design, an epic 12+ hour battery-life, 3K2K OLED display options, and overall fast performance.

It also features a silky feeling generously-sized touchpad and an albeit shallow (comfortable) keyboard, outstanding security options (facial recognition and fingerprint sensor), several ports, which makes sense why we love this laptop.

We suggest choosing the Spectre x360 14 over the Envy 13 if it is in your budget, especially for those looking for a flexible design. We think the Spectre x360 14 is the top HP laptop for those wanting a convertible notebook. It may have a couple of faults, but we are sure you will forget these easily once you try this beauty out.

HP’s EliteBook x 360 1040 G7 is one of the top-rated business laptops on the market. This beautiful laptop features a stunning chassis flaunting a highly flexible hinge that allows the x360 1040 G7 to transform into a user-friendly tablet.

It is also one of the rare few that doesn’t seem to have any downsides. This laptop also features a 14-inch vivid and bright display. But the great features of the EliteBook x360 1040 G7 do not stop there. These laptops have surprisingly comfortable keyboards, speedy performance, and several security features such as the fingerprint sensor, an IR camera, and MIL-SPEC-810 rated durability. While it may lack graphical oomph, the 10th Gen Intel CPUs, are not only powerful but also feature long-lasting batteries (11 hours on a charge).

This is why the EliteBook x360 1040 is rated as one of the top-rated HP laptops for business users.

HP Spectre x 360 13

If I had to decide between the Spectre x 360 13 and the Spectre x360 14, I would choose the 14-inch model. But when taking the extra costs into account (close to EUR 400 at the time of writing), of the bigger model, I start to see why the Spectre x360 13 is a more popular choice. Similar to the Spectre 14, the 13-inch model features long-lasting battery life, a vivid and bright display, and a user-friendly keyboard. It also boasts a uniquely striking design.

It also includes 11th Gen Intel CPUs for fast performance and a fingerprint sensor and IR camera which does away with having to use passwords. Even though it doesn’t come with a stylus, this Spectre x360 13 is priced reasonably for a superior convertible laptop allowing you to convert your device into an attractive tablet.

HP Chromebook x2

If you have the cash to pay premium prices for a Chromebook, then the HP Chromebook x2 will satisfy you. We adore the attractive and bright white lid, along with the vibrant 12.3-inch touchscreen. This Chromebook also has an impressive battery life (close to 9 hours), which outclasses most of the Windows-powered 2-in-1s.

Other features include the bundled pen to take notes or the full Google Play compatibility when you want to download Android apps. It would have been nice if this 3.2-pound device was a bit lighter.

HP Omen 15

This stunner with a stylish 4K UHD, 15-inch panel is crystal clear and bright, and it dances with warm vivacious colours. The heart of the Omen is powered by an impressive Intel Core i7-10750H CPU, along with the highly-capable Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super with a Max-Q of 8GB VRAM.

With its sexy, yet simple styling, the Omen 15 is an engaging option that you may want to consider. However, it does have a few drawbacks that include the fact that it weighs more than 5 pounds, while the battery life isn’t that great.

HP ZBook Create G7

Boasting an Nvidia RTX 2070 Max-Q GPU and Intel Core i9 processor, this is a workstation ready to combat any challenge. Wrapped in a svelte, sleek chassis, this attractive laptop can also take a few bumps thanks to its MIL-SPEC certification. It also includes a captivating 4K OLED touch panel serving up awe-inspiring picture quality.

The HP ZBook Create G7 comes in at EUR 4,300, making this model a pricey option, but you can be sure of premium performance. However, in my opinion, if you are prepared to fork out this sort of cash, I would have liked a longer-lasting battery and a more vibrant and brighter display.

HP EliteBook 840 G7

This model is one of the most classiest-looking business notebooks. But it sports way more than only looks. It provides an impressive 9-hours and 23-minute battery life, an exceptional keyboard, and a SureView privacy display that stops strangers from checking your screen out.

This model also comes with several ports allowing you to ditch your dongles along with top-firing speakers that sound great. The webcam might not be the best, yet this is nothing external solutions cannot fix. A more budget-friendly option when compared to many other top-rated business laptops, the EliteBook 840 G5 includes up to a 1TB SSD, up to 64GB of RAM, and a 10th Intel Core i7 CPU.

HP Elite Folio

This model includes solution-solving, innovative tech without the gimmicks, substantiating its $2,000 price tag. This laptop is also one of the longest-lasting with an impressive 16-hours and 21 minutes battery life (on a charge).

The Elite Folio is one of the first business convertibles in the world with an outstanding pull-forward mechanism. This feature allows you to change your display into an attractive digital easel, allowing you to get that Bob Ross on. It also includes an epic stylus, an advantage for users that prefer digital doodling and note-taking.
