Conduct Your Research and Get Bigger and Better Deals This Year
Is it worthwhile to conduct preliminary research? Without a doubt, in our opinion. Black Friday laptop bargains are at the top of the food chain when it comes to popularity.
According to Google Trends, laptops were among the top three most searched for categories in last year’s event, which we can confirm anecdotally based on our findings. Furthermore, we frequently see popular laptops sell out on Black Friday, so knowing exactly what you want before the big day is well worth it.
According to Statista, global e-commerce sales are expected to grow 26.7% year over year, so it doesn’t look like we’re in for a slow year this year. With chip shortages and supply chain difficulties on the horizon, it may be prudent to plan.
That said, we’ll be updating this page frequently in the lead-up to Black Friday, so bookmark it once you’ve read our expert advice on what to anticipate and how to get the greatest price. Lastly, don’t forget that Black Friday isn’t the only time of year to get a good deal on a laptop; there are lots of good deals all year. 2021 Black Friday Laptop Deals: When Will the Best Bargains Begin?
This year’s Black Friday is on November 26th, but we anticipate seeing some great deals before then. While the largest reductions are traditionally published on Black Friday itself, and while this is still a solid bet, we’ve seen laptop shops launch their Black Friday prices earlier in recent years, at the start of Halloween week.
Early bird discounts, in particular, are available in the weeks leading up to the main event, with some starting as early as mid-late October. Nonetheless, the best prices are found throughout Black Friday week. This is a pattern we expect to see repeat itself this year. (We’ll be compiling all of the best laptop Black Friday discounts here, so bookmark this page and keep checking.)
Last year, because of the pandemic, the trend toward early offers was even more pronounced, with laptop prices gradually dropping between late October and mid-November. They then plummeted at the start of Halloween week and remained low into the first week of December after that.
If you’ve been following the trends in the past, this scenario was quite in stark contrast to the past. Here, prices would plummet on the same day and then immediately climb again. Of course, retailers had a financial incentive to start their Black Friday laptop sales earlier last year.
This is because the pandemic had expedited the transition to online buying, according to Adobe Analytics. There was a 50% increase in online commerce in 2020 compared to 2019. With many brick-and-mortar establishments closing and more people than ever shopping online – plus logistical issues like shipment delays caused by Covid-19 – it made sense for merchants to spread the bargains out.
Well, we don’t know if this year’s Black Friday laptop sales will start as early as last year’s, but our money is on merchants spacing out their greatest deals once again. To be safe, we recommend keeping your eyes peeled from late October to early November.

What Laptops Will Be on Sale During Black Friday?
By November, the latest Windows laptops with 11th generation Intel Core processors should be much more readily available. This means that we should see not only more widespread discounts on these machines but also on the now-outdated 10th generation computers. We may also see new M1 Apple Macbooks by November, which could entail some significant price reductions on the first generation models.
Furthermore, it’s also likely that we’ll see the first significant price reductions on Nvidia RTX 3000 series graphics card-equipped gaming laptops. These machines were just published for early 2021, so they could be ripe for reductions by November – at least, that’s what we’re hoping.
Buying a Laptop on Black Friday: What Specifications Should I Look for?
Caution: Many laptop manufacturers and shops are seeking to get rid of old stock through Black Friday laptop deals.
You might, for example, come across a laptop sale that shaves a significant amount off the initial price, only to discover that it has a three-year-old processor. That isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker; you should be able to get some work done even with an Intel Core i7-8500U. However, keep in mind the current laptop hardware generations.
Intel processors, such as the Intel Core i7-10710U, should have a 10 or an 11 in front of their model number. Nonetheless, 9th-generation processors should be able to handle the workload. However, unless you can get an 8th-generation or older Intel Core processor for a ridiculously low price, you should avoid doing so because it would severely reduce the machine’s resale value and may result in poor performance, depending on what you use it for.
Finally, many Black Friday laptop sales will attempt to sell you a laptop that lacks sufficient RAM. On a Windows laptop, you should aim for at least 8GB of RAM as a minimum, and 16GB if you expect to do any serious work with it. You can get away with 4GB if you get one of the finest Chromebooks, but 8GB is a plus.
What About Gaming Laptop Deals on Black Friday?
If you’re purchasing a gaming laptop, be sure it has a current-generation Nvidia GPU. The latest top-end graphics chips are Nvidia GeForce 30-series graphics chips, which provide ray-tracing in games. However, older GPUs such as the RTX 2060, GTX 1660 Ti, and even less expensive GPUs such as the GTX 1650 will gladly grind along at 1080p gaming, albeit at lower settings.
Some of the most significant price reductions may be found on machines with these specifications, so they may be well worth it – just keep in mind that they aren’t the most recent versions. Gaming laptops, like regular laptops, benefit from large amounts of RAM and SSD storage, especially if you plan on installing multiple PC games at once. For additional details, we recommend visiting our main Black Friday gaming laptop deals page, which contains more detailed information and advice.
If you can’t wait for a Black Friday laptop deal and need a new machine right now – perhaps you’re returning to school or shopping for someone who is – there are plenty of good-value options available this summer.
